[Photo/Nation.co.ke]Former councillor of North West Kisumu ward Stephen Otiato and his wife Roselyne Akinyi are dead.The couple passed on, Tuesday, after being electrocuted at their home in Maseno, Kisumu County.Nation reports Otiato died while trying to rescue his wife who had touched a live wire while hanging clothes.The former councillor is reported to have come to his wife's rescue after she raised the alarm. He died after touching the body of his wife.“We were asleep and we heard mummy crying behind the house where we hang our clothes. Daddy came out first when I went to check, they were all down and not talking,” Evelyne Nyawira, one of their children said.According to Kisumu's Kenya Power supervisor Aggrey Kibande, the clothes line was in contact with an open live electric wire.“This is a case of poor wiring,” the daily quotes Kibande.“We are going to do our investigation to find out whoever did the wiring, from the look of things, there are several loose connections,” Kibande added.The KPLC supervisor further cautioned the residents against hiring incompetent electricians.Otiato served as a councillor from 2006 to 2012.
