Former Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament Walter Nyambati has hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing him as the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) board chairperson.
Speaking on Sunday in Ksii, Nyambati said President’s appointment showed that he recognised the support he got from Abagusii community.
He called on the opposition to cease from trivial politics and instead support the president because he balanced all communities in his appointment.
“The President’s appointment were balanced. He even considered his opponents by appointing their kins,” said Nyambati.
Nyambati said that the Abagusii community is ready to support President Kenyatta even in fierce tussle.
Responding to CORD allegations that the appointment was political, he denied saying Kenyatta only looked at one’s ability and experience to handle given docket.
“Who said politicians cannot make good managers or chairpersons? Losing an election does not mean you are not worthy. A political race is a battle whereby one either wins or loses and you can still serve somewhere,” said Nyambati.
President Kenyatta appointed Walter Nyambati Chairperson of the Board of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, for a period of three years with effect from April 17, 2015.
The ex-MP contested the Kitutu Masaba parliamentary seat in the 2013 general elections with TNA ticket but lost to Timothy Bosire of ODM party.
However, the opposition has taken issue with the appointment of members and chairpersons to state corporations arguing that President Kenyatta’s slotting was politically intrigued and accused him of recycling political rejects.
