Former Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) chairman Samuel Nyangeso has urged residents in the larger Gusii region to re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming August 8 general election.
Nyangeso said the Jubilee administration is devoted to fostering development in the region.
Speaking on Sunday at Eronge in Borabu constituency, Nyangeso said residents should support Jubilee Party despite Prof Sam Ongeri ditching the Uhuru-led party for ODM party.
Ongeri, the former UN-Habitat ambassador decamped JP for the Raila Odinga-led Orange party and is expected to vie for the Kisii County senatorial seat.
“Here in Gusii region, the opposition got more votes than what Jubilee garnered in 2013 but the government has also done more for us in terms of development,” said Nyangeso.
“We need this time round to support Jubilee to benefit more especially on development projects. Please re-elect the Jubilee administration and I want to assure you that you will enjoy its fruits after the August polls,” he added.
Nyangeso also called on the residents to elect focused leaders who will foster development instead of politicking.
“We need to have leaders who will promote development and in order to realise this, we need to be wise when voting,” said Nyangeso.
