Former Kenya Premier League (KPL) Champions Tusker FC are in the market for a new coach.
This is after the Ruaraka based side’s leadership parted ways with Ugandan coach George ‘Best’ Nzimbe after only one season in charge.
Nzimbe’s downfall came after he failed to defend the KPL crown Tusker won in 2016, under former coach Paul Nkata who has also been dismissed by coast based Bandari FC.
Tusker FC chairman Dan Aduda says they are in the market for a new coach, confirming the rest of the technical bench led by assistant coach Francis Baraza remains intact.
“We had a meeting after the final game of the season and we informed him (Nzimbe) that he will be free to venture into another challenge. To be honest, it was the only sensible decision to make because the results were not good,” Aduda is quoted by Capital Sport.
“We had targets as a club and he also came in with his own targets. Both were not met.
This decision is purely because of performance,” added Aduda.
George Nzimbe joined Tusker FC in early 2017 and signed a two-year contract. He previously coached Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) and SC Villa in his native Uganda and Azam FC in Tanzania.
Tusker FC ended 2017 KPL season at position 6 with 50 points; 24 points behind champions Gor Mahia.
