The management of 2016 Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Tusker FC has confirmed the release of 14 players.
The released include nine players leaving on mutual agreement, while contracts of the remaining five are set to expire on the 31st of this month.
According to Tusker FC chairman Dan Aduda, the club has elected not to renew contracts of the five.
According to tuskerfc.co.ke, the huge overhaul is part of preparations ahead of the KPL 2018 season, expected to kick off in early February.
The nine players who have been released by Tusker FC are: Anthony Ndolo, George Mandela, Moses Ndawula, Victor Ndinya, Luis Tera, Danson Kago, Noah Wafula, Martin Kizza and Clifford Alwanga.
The other players who will not be part of Tusker FC’s squad for the 2018 season due to expiry of their contracts are: Stephen Owusu, Humphrey Ochieng Mieno, Allan Watende Wanga, James Situma and Cercidy Okeyo.
“Tusker Football club wishes them all the best in their future endeavors,” reads a message accompanying the names of the mentioned players.
Wanga, Situma and Mieno have been among the senior most players in Tusker FC dressing room for some time now.
The players were instrumental in guiding the Brewers to the KPL title in 2016.
The 2017 KPL was an underwhelming adventure for Tusker FC, after the team finished 6th on the log with 50 points; 24 points behind champions Gor Mahia.
