Former Lari MP David Njuguna has called on the Kiambu County government to exercise transparency and accountability in the disbursement of development funds.

Speaking yesterday at Mukeu Secondary School in Lari Sub-County during a parent day meeting, Njuguna said that the implementation of the constitution has brought transparency and accountability that should be part of the county's executive.

"Kiambu County executive should be transparent in distribution of resources to instil confidence in the residents," said Njuguna,

During the ceremony, Njuguna gave a personal donation of Ksh100,000 that would benefit a total of 48 students.

The former lawmaker also said that there is need to increase public participation in the formulation of county's polices as a major paradigm shift from the previous dispensation where policies were formulated in the House Assembly.

He said that allowing the residents to participate in public forums would enable them to coming up with perfect solutions to challenges that are facing them.

"Public participation is one way of increasing residents’ appetite for county growth and development," he said.

He further stated that the disbursement of loans to the youth should be fair to enable them boost their businesses and reduce poverty.
