Speaking at Gusii Institute of Technology on Thursday during annual bonding day, Walter Nyambati said students should preach peace among them and desist from discriminating others based on ethnicity.

He said tribal hatred was escalating among the youths especially in social sites and urged students to be good role models to upcoming generation.

“Young people in institutions have a mandate to ensure they live together in harmony. The trends of tribal animosity are on increasing note and something serious should be done to curb the incident,” he said.

Nyambati challenged students to respect institutions besides contributing significantly towards ensuring tribal differences among the political class is eliminated.

“Today our fellow politicians are moving around the country trying to create tribal wrangles. You have a duty to disapprove them through shunning them whenever they try to divide us,” he said.

He urged National cohesion and Integration Commission under the leadership of Francis Ole Kaparo to take stern measures against politicians spreading hate speech and propaganda that are suicidal in the country’s prosperity.

“The NCIC has mandate to deal with hate speech especially among the political class. They should ensure such cases are prosecuted effectively,” said the former MP.
