Mutua says that claims that he is intimidating and threatening journalists are untrue.

The former Law Society of Kenya who is eyeing the Mwingi Central MP in the August 8 polls has instead accused rivals of using journalists to malign him.

Mutua claims that some people are not comfortable with his bid for the Mwingi Central Parliamentary seat and want to tarnish his name.

“I have not threatened or even intimidated any journalist as being claimed out there,” said the former LSK boss as quoted by Daily Nation.

Mutua said that what he has been calling on journalists is objective reporting.

“I have nothing against media freedom or the press, what I want them to do is not to be used by politicians to propagate malicious information,” he said.

On Monday a section of journalists operating in Kitui held peaceful demonstrations at Mwingi Town protesting what they termed as harassment and intimidation from the former LSK boss.

The journalists presented a petition to the Kitui County commissioner complaining of alleged harassment and intimidation.

The scribes also presented a petition to the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) over the same.
