Former Mackinon MCA Ahmed Musa is dead.Musa, who has been suffering from high blood pressure died on Sunday night at his home in Kilifi.Musa was instrumental in pushing for the closure of Taru quarry following concerns that it interfered with learning activities at Taru Secondary School.He also ensured the Chinese construction firm which operated the quarry constructed a new secondary school five kilometers from the quarry site.In April, Musa led residents in protesting against increased human- wildlife conflicts in areas bordering the Tsavo East National park.“The Kenya world life service should come to our rescue. We cannot plant maize for elephant feeds,” said Musa.The former MCA also spearheaded women and youth empowerment in the ward, and urged residents to utilise government funds.Musa, popularly known as Chuphy Ngala, will be laid to rest on Monday at the Shariff Mosque grounds in Mackinon, Kwale County.Mackinon Ward MCA Mohammed Danda and Samburu-Chengoni Ward MCA Chirema Kombo have eulogized Musa as a hard working leader who always had the community interests at heart.“I had no personal issues with the late Musa, it was a political battle and I beat him,” said Danda.Musa lost to Mohammed Danda in the August 8 general election.
