Former Cabinet Minister Nicholas Biwott has told Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale to apologise for humiliating retired President Daniel Moi.
Biwott said Duale made demeaning remarks during the burial of former Nominated MP Mark Too, by alleging that Moi was saved from the bush during the attempted 1982 coup.
“Moi was in Kabarak and at no time was he in the bush. Duale should not use his cheap politics to abuse the retired President. He should know they are not in the same class," Biwott was quoted by the Star on Sunday.
The former Keiyo South MP said it was wrong for Duale to imply that Moi was a coward in his own government.
During Mark Too's burial a week ago, Duale said he married the daughter of former army chief general Mahmoud Mohammed, whom he claimed saved Moi from the bush during the attempted 1982 coup.
Echoing the same sentiments, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter said Duale should apologise for despising a respected statesman.
“It’s is disrespectful for Duale to joke around with Moi’s name. We demand that he apologise publicly for his irresponsible remarks," said Keter during a press conference in Eldoret.
