Former cabinet minister Margaret Kamar has threatened to move to court to file a petition for the disbandment of parliament over failure to pass the Gender Bill.
Addressing journalists on Monday after attending a women leadership forum that was held at a Mombasa hotel, Kamar said the new Constitution stipulates that their must be a two-third gender bill and parliament acted in bad faith by throwing it out.
“I am going to lobby all the women in the country and lead a delegation of women to the Supreme Court for the petition if the MPs do not review the Gender Bill and pass it,” said Kamar.
Her sentiments were echoed by Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua who encouraged women leaders to stand up and support the Gender Bill.
