A former Jubilee MP has been accused of asking for bribes from contractors upgrading roads in the constituency.
Residents of Nyameuru in Bomokora Bonchari claimed that the former area MP John Opore has visited a Chinese contractor in the area several times to demand bribes before they start upgrading various roads in the region.
The locals said the MP should accept to retire from politics because they already have another.
"We elected an MP last year and Opore lost fairly. Let him stop going around the constituency demanding bribes from the contractors who applied for various road construction works during his tenure. Area MP John Oyioka should be given a good time to serve his people," said James Mogaka, a resident.
Fred Omweri said the former lawmaker is confused after he lost in last year's elections.
"Opore served for 15 years with no development track record. He led former CDF team to embezzle millions of shillings meant for development. He is confused after Abanchari kicked him out. Even if a by-election is held, we will not elect Opore because we have forgotten him. Let him rest and enjoy his pension," said Omweri.
