The calendars seen by the reporter put Nyambati, who currently chairs Jomo Kenyatta Foundation as the gubernatorial running mate to Nyagarama who has since fallen out with his current Deputy Amos Nyaribo.

But in a press statement on Monday, Nyambati urged county residents to dismiss the rumours insisting that he is in gubernatorial race to stay.

“I am shocked that a failing regime can try to taint my name by coming up with political leaflets position me as a running mate. These are cheap and malicious propaganda that should be dismissed by all Nyamira people because I bam in gubernatorial race to stay,” read the statement.

“I cannot possibly back or deputize such a failed regime which is lame, toothless, corrupt and embarrassing. I must be counted in the right side of history by rescuing our county from such an incapacitated government,” he added.

He urged the police to investigate the incident and vowed to ensure architects of the information are brought to the books of justice.

“I want to also challenge the police to start investigations over the matter being its character assassination. I won’t tire till the people behind it are arrested and arraigned in court for defamation because I know they are supporters of the current regime,” he said.
