Former MP Mathew Lempurkel on Thursday was charged with conspiring to murder Laikipia County Police Commander Simon Kipkeu.
While appearing in Nanyuki Court to answer charges, he denied the accusation and was freed on a Ksh 50,000 cash bail. This comes after his arrest which was on March 13th over the same charges.
The Police Commander confirmed the reports of his arrest and stated that the MP was held on accusations on account of planning to commit murder.
Kipkeu stated: " We are conducting an investigation on a conspiracy to commit murder where Mr Lempurkel is a suspect. The investigation is ongoing and I am not willing to reveal more on this at this moment."
The police boss was however reluctant to divulge the identity of the person the former MP is alleged to have conspired together with.
Lempurkel has been to police cells before when he was arrested two weeks ago over incitement remarks. He had been arrested of making remarks which could cause violence while having a meeting with residents.
