Former Kwale Women Representative Zainab Chidzuga has expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will uphold President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in the October 26 repeat presidential election.
Chidzuga said Uhuru’s win in the repeat poll was clean, adding that he will shame critics who have been questioning his re-election.
The former MP claimed that the petitions filed by three petitioners are malicious and baseless.
“We as Jubilee are confident that the Supreme Court will uphold the re-election of President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta,” said Chidzuga.
Addressing journalists in Kwale Town on Tuesday, Chidzuga accused the opposition of allegedly using certain individuals to petition against an election they refused to participate in.
She alleged that the petitioners who are challenging Uhuru’s re-election are associates of NASA’s top leaders.
The Jubilee politician said Kenyans are tired of the election circus and want to move on with their lives.
Chidzuga said the country is bleeding economically as a result of the prolonged election process.
The Supreme Court commenced hearing of the three petitions that have been filed challenging Uhuru’s re-election on Tuesday.
Former Kilome MP Harun Mwau is among the petitioners who want Uhuru’s re-election to be nullified on grounds that IEBC failed to conduct the repeat poll in conformity with the law.
Mwau has been under criticism from a section of Jubilee politicians who allege that he filed the petition on behalf of NASA leader Raila Odinga.
