Former Nyakach MP, Dennis Akumu is dead.

Akumu died at the Aga Khan Hospital on Wednesday after a short illness.

The former legislator served his first two terms under the Kenya African National Union (Kanu) for two terms between 1969 to 1973 and later 1992 to 1997 but later joined the Ford Kenya party.

The late Akumu also served as the secretary general of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu.)

The death has come as a big blow to the family and Nyakach residents who said a great man has been lost.
