Former Kaloleni MP Gunga Mwinga now claims the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MPs conspired with Governor Amason Kingi to ensure he lost the Kilifi county speaker race.He noted that Governor Kingi’s re-election played a great deal in his loss.Kingi is serving a second term after retaining his seat in the August 8 national polls where he won overwhelmingly.According to Mwinga, only two legislators; William Kamoti of Rabai constituency and Ken Chonga of Kilifi South supported his candidature.“These other MPs feared if I occupied the seat, I would have networked for the 35 wards. So they had to do everything to flatten me,” Mwinga told the Star on the phone on Thursday.Mwinga, the Devolution Party of Kenya (DPK) leader, claimed the other MPs conspired with the governor to prevail upon the MCAs to elect Jimmy Kahindi. He noted that he had the support of 38 MCAs before his loss.Mwinga garnered 13 votes against Kahindi’s 40 in the second round of voting.
