Former Nyandarua MP Jeremiah Kioni has challenged Opposition leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to back Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi's presidential bid.

In an opinion editorial published with the Star on Monday, Kioni argued that Mudavadi is the best suited candidate to fly the National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential ticket, observing that unlike the three other candidates, Mudavadi stands a better chance of beating President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August polls.

"The only person who can grow the numbers on their side is Musalia. If they choose Raila, the numbers will not grow and he will end up with the same numbers he had in 2013," he stated.

"With Musalia, there will be a natural flow of numbers to NASA," he added.

Kioni further noted that the former Deputy Prime Minister is the only unifying factor within NASA, adding that the coalition stands to reap big if they let Mudavadi fly the outfit's presidential flag.

"Musalia Mudavadi is the only unifying force among the four NASA leaders. I have known Musalia as a sober person who takes time to think over an issue and is never quick to rush to a decision," he said.

NASA is yet to settle on a presidential candidate five months into the general elections, with Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula all gunning for the coalition's ticket.
