Riakworo Dispensary in Kitutu Masaba constituency will be expanded by adding a new wing that will be exclusive for maternal delivery, a former legislator has said.
Speaking at his rural home on Thursday, Mwancha Okioma said the move was necessary to help many women who walked several kilometers to access the facility at Gesima or Keroka hospitals in the constituency.
He expressed his shock on the stalled project since he had laid a foundation in 2007, shortly before the general elections that saw him lose to former area legislator Walter Nyambati in a battle of titans.
“I will give Sh1.5 million to the management committee that we had set prior to 2007 general elections. It is essential that we expand the facility to accommodate delivery services for women,” he said.
“I am shocked that my successors decided to withdraw funding from the project from CDF kitty without giving explanations. But I want to reiterate that my people will see the project completed before the end of this year,” added Mwancha.
He asked the county government of Nyamira to top up on his contribution as a way of expediting the process.
“I am not really bothering the county government but if they are ready, they can help me complete the project so that our people get affordable services. However, I am ready to complete it on my own,” he said.
