Walter Nyambati, who served from 2007-13 has been accused by Nyakegogi residents of allegedly erecting a sign post showing that Nyakegogi dispensary was under construction, contrary to the situation on the ground.

Speaking to the reporter on Wednesday, area residents led by Joash Nyachiro demanded immediate apprehension of the former MP by anti-corruption officials to unearth the truth behind the project.

“As Nyakegogi residents, we want Nyambati to be arrested by anti-corruption officials and show us the dispensary he erected a sign post showing that it was under construction,” Nyachiro said.

“This is fraud of the highest order and it must be investigated. We have tried to make follow ups and the current leadership claims that records show that the dispensary was completed. We want Nyambati to come out clear on the matter,” he added.

“We can confirm that there is no dispensary and if the reports indicate that it was completed as the current leadership says, then someone must be held accountable,” Nyachiro said.

However, Nyambati, who now works as Chairperson of Jomo Kenyatta Foundation has since refuted the claims and blamed his woes on gubernatorial competitors.

“I really wonder where this baseless information is resurfacing from since all that time. We had budgeted for the dispensary but I left office before allocation was done. I know people are scared of my gubernatorial ambition but I am ready to put records straight,” he said.
