Former Machakos Women Representative Susan Musyoka has called on Kamba leaders to unite in order to have bargaining power in the 2022 general election.
Musyoka says that the community risks losing out if its leaders do not bury their political differences.
Musyoka claims that disunity among Kamba leaders is to blame for the regions poor development.
In an interview with a local daily on Monday, the former Wiper MP said that the community will deliver itself from poverty when its leaders will learn to work in unity.
She said that for a long time the Kamba community has been treated as second class by some politician's who have been using the Kambas to ascend to power.
The former MP asked experienced Kamba politicians led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to bring the community together.
“We as Kamba community must first sit down and iron out our deference’s before thinking about 2022,” she said.
The former lawmaker lauded the move by governor's Alfred Mutua and Kivutha Kibwana to unite for development.
She asked other leaders to follow suit, saying that it is the only way that development will be realized.
On Saturday, Mutua and Kibwana called on other Kamba leaders to unite.
Kibwana backed Mutua’s 2022 presidential bid saying that he is free to campaign in Makueni.
Both Kalonzo and Mutua are eyeing the presidency in 2022 polls.
Pressure is mounting on them to unite and form a formidable force that will see the community clinch the presidency in 2022.
