Former Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura now claims that opposition leader Raila Odinga has embarked on a new alliance formation plan in preparation for the approaching general election, hence his recent series of 'handshakes' with leaders deemed to be from the opposing side.
Odinga has since reached out to President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, Uhuru's uncle George Muhoho and recently retired President Daniel Moi, with the ex-lawmaker noting that more leaders remain lined-up in his list.
He revealed that the former Prime Minister's target is likely to be former President and his partner in the 2008-2013 Grand Coalition government Mwai Kibaki.
''He seems to be out for reconciliation with all previous and current leaders and will soon reach out for retired President Mwai Kibaki for another handshake,'' Mutura said on Radio Jambo Saturday.
Mutura, however, poked holes into the reconciliations which he claimed are aimed at ensuring the return of a another round of leadership for the royal Odinga, Kenyatta and Moi and Kibaki families, stressing on the need for fresh rule.
''A section of Kenyans are feeling excluded because of the ongoing plans that seem to be aimed at ensuring the return of the rule of the 4 royal families and are likely to rally behind a leader who they feel they can relate to. In this case being Deputy President William Ruto,'' he added.
According to Odinga and Kenyatta, however, their reconciliation was aimed at boosting national cohesion.
