Former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu has slammed NASA principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka for fronting their relatives for the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) positions.Mutambu argued that the nomination of Raila Odinga's brother Oburu Odinga and Kalonzo's son Kennedy Musyoka is illegal.Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Friday, Mutambu said the nomination of the two is a clear indication that there is no democracy in the opposition. The former MP argued that Raila's brother has served as an MP for many years and his application to be nominated to EALA is suspicious.Mutambu said Raila's brother should reject the nomination and give the slot to someone else."It is time people stopped making nominations to favour and maintain their family political interests and instead consider the larger interests of Kenyans," he said.He further argued that Kalonzo’s son does not have the experience to articulate Kenyan issues in the East Africa Assembly.Mutambu claimed that Kennedy applied for the position because of his father's political connections, adding that politicians have no regard for other Kenyans who deserve such positions. The former lawmaker slammed top politicians in the country for ‘personalising the EALA positions and using them to reward their family members and friends’.NASA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Norma Magaya has also been nominated for the positions.
