A former MP who has lived with a bullet lodged in his head for over 20 years has been hospitalised after his health condition deteriorated.
Oduya Oprong (former MP Amagoro) is admitted at the Private Wing of Bungoma County Teaching and Referral hospital.
Oprong who is still living with a bullet lodged in his brain 24 years after being shot in Nairobi was rushed to the hospital after developing breathing problems.
His wife Grace Oprong said her husband lost appetite, but as at Saturday his condition had improved.
"I thank Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for his support despite the short notice," she said.
Busia County Assembly Deputy Speaker Lawrence Okaale said he will convene a leaders' meeting to chat a way forward on how best to help the ailing former lawmaker.
"We need to support Mzee who contributed immensely to the creation of Teso District and for defending the community in Parliament," he said.
KANU National chairman Gideon Moi when he visited Oprong in his Angurai home in December 2016 promised job opportunities for the two children of former MP and assistant minister.
Moi accepted a request by the family through KANU Rift Valley NEC member Jonathan Bii to have two family members offered jobs to enable them take care of the ailing Oprong. Grace said the pledge has not been fulfilled.
Oprong's son, Isaac Oprong, told journalists their father is a pale shadow of what he supposed to be since his attempted assassination. He said the family had spent a lot of money in his treatment.
"We have petitioned the National Government to give our father justice and support his medication," he said.
