Speaking to journalists in Thika Town on Tuesday, Kaguthi said that Waiittu’s crackdown will bear fruits in terms of eliminating illicit brews.

He said that Kiambu is among counties with high consumption of illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks.

“Kiambu people should stand with their governor as he fights alcoholism and illicit brews,” he said.

Kaguthi slammed some business community opposing Waittu’s crackdown on brews.

He said that the lives of the people matters, adding that those engaging in illicit brews and sake of outlawed rinks must be dealt with accordingly.

“It is hypocrisy of the highest order for some people to condemn the governor who is interested in saving the lives of young and elderly people who have been trapped by illicit brews,” he added.

Kaguthi called on the national government to increase the tax on alcoholic drinks in efforts to tame abuse.

He urged elected leaders and clergy to support the fight against drug abuse.
