Veteran politician and former North Mugirango/Borabu constituency Member of Parliament Godfrey Masanya was on Friday laid to rest at his Nyaramba home in Nyamira County.
The late Masanya passed away on April 10 at a Kericho hospital after a reportedly short illness.
Former CIC chairperson Charles Nyachae, area Member of Parliament Charles Geni, Kitutu Chache South MP Momoima Onyonka, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi are some of the key dignitaries from the region who attended the funeral.
The leaders described Masanya as an astute leader who played a pivotal role in shaping the region's politics.
West Mugirango Member of Parliament eulogised the former legislator for leading from the forefront in championing the community's interests at the national level.
"It is sad that he has gone to be with the Lord but we shall remember him as a champion who put the interests of the people and those of the entire community in the forefront; even at the national level," he said.
"We will continue from where he (Mr. Masanya) left," he added.
The late MP served as North Mugirango - Borabu legislator between 2002 - 2007.
