Former North Mugirango MP Godfrey Masanya has passed on after ailing for a short time.
The former legislator succumbed to death on Sunday evening after secretly battling hypertension, reports indicate.
Speaking in Nyamira, Minister of Education Nyamira county Jones Omwenga, closely related to the late Masanya said the departed has been hospitalised for a short while due to hypertension, and was bereft of life on Sunday evening at St.Leonard private hospital, Kericho.
"The late honourable Masanya has shortly been in hospital. I bet hypertension could be the immediate cause of his death," he said.
The incumbent North Mugirango MP Ben Momanyi, who was among the delegates who sojourned to the hospital to ascertain the death on reception of the bad news also sent his condolences to the bereft family and North Mugirango fraternity.
"We have lost a fighter and a leader who championed for equality and rights of voters. I stand with my people in these trying moments," he said.
The late Masanya served as the North Mugirango MP between 2002 and 2007.
