Former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu could be headed to the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party.Speaking over the weekend, Mruttu revealed that he recently met the Jubilee top leadership who requested him to work with them."I recently met President Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto in Nairobi and they requested me to support the government ahead of the repeat presidential election set for next month. I told the President I have to consult my supporters for my political direction and that is why I am going across the county to seek their consent before defecting to Jubilee," said Mruttu, as quoted by the Standard.The former governor has been holding consultative forums in Mwatate, Voi, Taveta and Wundanyi constituencies in the recent past.Mruttu’s close ally told the Standard that the former governor will lead a delegation of more than 2,000 to meet the President at State House, Nairobi."We are going to Nairobi either today (Monday) or tomorrow to meet the Head of State," the source said.Mruttu who was elected on an ODM ticket ditched the party after losing in the party primaries in May.He vied in the August 8 general election as an independent candidate but was defeated by Wiper's Granton Samboja.
