Former Taita Taveta Woman Representative Joyce Lay has urged NASA leader Raila Odinga to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta for the good of Kenyans.
Lay says that there is no need for Raila and his supporters to stage confrontations with a government that has been legitimately elected by the people.
Speaking to journalists in Voi Town on Friday, Lay said that Raila as a statesman must accept reality and support Uhuru.
She said that continued political anxiety and uncertainty caused by the opposition is hurting Kenyans.
“We need to move on as a country and I would urge Raila to work with Uhuru Kenyatta for the interests of Kenyans,” she said.
Lay said that NASA stands to gain nothing through street protests and economic boycotts.
The former Woman Rep who ditched Raila’s ODM party and joined Jubilee urged Uhuru Kenyatta to reach out to the former Prime Minister and unite the country.
She warned that political divisions caused by the October 26 repeat presidential will cause more harm to the country is not addressed.
President Kenyatta will be sworn in on Tuesday next week.
The president has maintained that he is ready to dialogue with Raila on matters of national interest.
NASA has announced a parallel rally at the Jacaranda grounds as Uhuru will be taking oath at the Kasarani stadium on Tuesday next week.
