Ailing veteran politician and former Homa bay KANU henchman, Elisha Aketch Chieng' is now asking help from well-wishers and politicians, after his deteriorating health.

He continued to urge them not to wait until his death for condolences.“I am bedridden and poor. I call on my fellow politicians, NGOs, and other well-wishers to come to my aid now when I am still alive. Please, I am suffering, don’t wait until I die to give nice condolence messages at my funeral,” said Mr. Chieng’ while speaking to journalists at his Home bay home on Tuesday.

The former served as a councilor between 1969 and 1992, where he also held the position of KANU chairman and vice chairman of the larger Nyanza county council. 

Mr. Chieng narrated how he fell I'll in 2012 and a stroke he suffered in November 2016 which has led to him forking out over sh 3 million on hospital bills.

“I have moved to more than 12 hospitals. I also suffered a stroke in November 2016 and spent more than Sh3 million. "I have now left a poor man. Most of my allies no longer pick my calls and only left me to die,” he added.
