Kibaki was stranded Saturday morning following delays in travel from Kenya Airways Company KQ.

He was coming back to Nairobi after presiding over a graduation ceremony at Kakamega’s Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

However, Kenya Airways CEO Mbuvi Ngunze has responded to the delay news saying that such delays are not unusual especially during peak seasons like December.

"The turnaround times can tend to be longer than anticipated. During peak seasons like this it is normal to have rotational delays," he said.
