A number of domestic flights were on Saturday delayed in a case that left dozens of passengers stranded at various airports.
The delays mostly affected passengers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as well as Kisumu International Airport, leaving passengers angry.
According to Nation, former President Mwai Kibaki is among those who were caught up with the delay in Kisumu.
Kibaki was returning to Nairobi after presiding over a graduation ceremony at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kakamega.
Kenya Airways Chief Executive Mbuvi Ngunze has responded to the delay news and said that such delays are not unusual.
"The turnaround times can tend to be longer than anticipated. During peak seasons like this it is normal to have rotational delays," he said.
During the delays that stretched into hours, the most affected flights included KQ A8650 which was scheduled to leave Nairobi for Kisumu at 6.30 am but passengers were still stranded at JKIA at midday on Saturday.
