Gichira now wants court officials to visit the scene of the alleged crime.

Through his lawyer Dedan Wachira, Gichira sought an adjournment saying the visit should come before the prosecution starts calling witnesses.

He made the argument on Monday at the Milimani law courts before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The prosecution led by Senior State Counsel Solomon Naulikha has not opposed the application.

The court will deliver a ruling on April 13.

Andayi had issued summons for IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and six other officials to appear in court to give evidence.

Gichira is facing three counts of attempting to kill himself, creating disturbance and destroying IEBC property worth Sh134,386.

He has since denied the charges and was released on a Sh200,000 bail.
