Former presidential candidate Prof James Ole Kiyiapi has defended the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga, following alleged incitement.
It is alleged Raila incited the Maasai in Kajiado not to sale land to 'newcomers', claims that the Opposition leader has disputed.
Raila has defended himself saying he asked them not to sale land cheaply, to wealthy people who want to exploit their resources, due to manipulation, only to leave them poor.
Nasa rivals, Jubilee, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on prosecution of Raila, saying he incited the people of Kajiado, and that he was treading on a line similar to what led to the Post Election Violence in 2007/2008.
However, Kiyiapi defended Raila, saying his utterances asking the people of Maasai community not to sale land, was not a bad thing.
He cited former President Daniel Arap Moi, saying he also used to advise the people of the Maa community in Narok and Kajiado, not to sale their lands.
"I don't know what exactly Raila said in KJD (Kajiado) I was not there: but rampant sale of land and resultant destitution must be arrested by any government! President Moi himself used to tell the Maasai of Narok and Kajiado not to sell their land. Nobody ever complained! What is the issue now?" Twitted Kiyiapi, Sunday.
