Self-declared official leader of opposition in Kenya Dr. Ekuru Aukot has announced plans to name a shadow government.
Aukot, who emerged third during last year's repeat presidential election, said he recognises President Uhuru Kenyatta's presidency but vowed to form a shadow cabinet to challenge the ruling party.
"We respect that there is a lawfully established government as declared by IEBC and the Supreme Court but by sometime next week we will publicly unveil, publish our shadow cabinet," Aukot said.
Speaking during Citizen TV's JKL show on Wednesday night, the Thirdway Alliance leader said his party was in the process of interviewing Kenyans who have expressed interest in joining the opposition's cabinet.
"As at now we are interviewing for a shadow cabinet...so far we have more than 130 applicants. We will present to Kenyans more qualified, competent and suitable professional people in those dockets," he said.
Aukot dismissed reports that he was being used by the government to undermine the NASA coalition, saying he had vied for presidency because he is opposed to Jubilee.
"We are not a member of any coalition, we have never been and we will never be," he remarked.
