Former Permanent Secretary (PS) and a close ally of former president Daniel Arap Moi, Zachary Ogongo will be buried this Friday January 16 at his rural home in Monchenwa village in Kitutu Masaba Constituency.
Speaking on Sunday at Mochenwa, programme co-ordinator Dr. Crispine Momanyi said burial programme for the former provincial administrator and PS Ogongo is scheduled for this Friday.
“We have put all logistics in place and settled on Friday as the perfect day for the sendoff. This will be the appropriate time for his friends across the world to arrive and give a perfect send off for their friend,” said Momanyi.
Momanyi quelled fears that the deceased was to be buried in Borabu scheme where he had lived for many years by confirming that the late Ogongo’s body will be laid to rest in his father’s land in Monchenwa villagecompliance with the culture.
“There are those who have been saying that my cousin will be laid to rest in his Borabu home. That is not true because it will violate our culture,” added Momanyi.
Ogongo succumbed to cancer in a Nairobi Hospital on Monday and his body was taken to Lee Funeral Home awaiting burial.
Till his death, he had joined politics and unsuccessfully vied for Kitutu Masaba by-election in 2011 on a Wiper ticket and was a close confident of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
