Former Kwale Women Representative Zainab Chidzuga has defended the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) against claims of overseeing shambolic repeat presidential elections.Speaking to journalists in Kwale Town on Tuesday, Chidzuga said the October repeat elections were credible, contrary to NASA’s claims that the results were manipulated.Chidzuga said IEBC delivered free and credible elections as directed by the Supreme Court following the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.The former Raila ally said claims by the opposition that the October 26 repeat election figures were cocked are malicious and meant to discredit the electoral body.“The IEBC delivered credible repeat elections and those criticising it for allegedly cooking figures to favour Jubilee are dreaming,” said Chidzuga. The Jubilee politician said Uhuru won the repeat election and will be sworn into office whether opposition leaders like it or not.Chidzuga also told off civil rights groups questioning Uhuru’s win telling them to go to the courts instead of expressing their dissatisfaction through the media. The former Women Rep also lauded Coast residents for coming out to vote in the October 26 repeat poll despite the opposition’s boycott calls. She said the Coast region is no longer in opposition and will work with the Jubilee government. This comes after NASA leader Raila Odinga claimed that only 3.5 million Kenyans voted contrary to IEBC’s figure of 7.6 million.
