As the clock ticks towards the August 8 elections, former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe is in a dilemma over the choice of candidate to support in the Jomvu MP race.
The former ODM stalwart in the region who has since defected to Jubilee after losing to Hassan Omar in the 2013 senatorial race, is now torn between supporting Jubilee candidate for the seat Karisa Nzai, or throwing his weight behind his son-in-law Badi Twalib of ODM, who is the incumbent MP.Badi clinched the seat in 2013 after edging out his brother-in-law, Ramadhan Kajembes's son, Seif Kajembe in 2013.Jomvu was hived off the giant Changamwe constituency and with only over 69,000 registered voters; it has the lowest voter population of all the six Mombasa constituencies.Kajembe is a key member of the Uhuru Kenyatta campaign team in Mombasa, but Jomvu politics is proving to be tricky matter for the man who represented Changamwe for three uninterrupted terms. However, the former assistant minister's influence in the county politics may still be key in determining the next Jomvu MP.
