A source from the ODM party told this writer the soft-spoken man is seeking to dethrone MP Ken Obura (ODM) who has been accused by ODM of working with Jubilee.

Mr Oloo returned to ODM on Tuesday after accusing Jubilee Party of sidelining him in party matters.

If he succeeds getting the party's ticket to vie for the seat, he will mostly likely find an easy ride taking into account ODM enjoys massive support Kisumu.

At a press conference in Kisumu on Wednesday Oloo said he enjoys support in Kisumu and if residents of Kisumu Central constituency find him a better leader, he will contest for the seat.

"If these people feel that I have the leadership credentials and that I should lead them, we will seat and decide to take it (leadership) up," he said as he addressed the press in Kisumu.

Mr Oloo played an instrumental role in President Uhuru Kenyatta election in 2013.

He is among the few Jubilee officials who campaigned for Mr Uhuru in Nyanza during the polls.

When he was appointed TNA secretary general, he was criticised back in Kisumu by people who called him a traitor.

They said he should not have joined Jubilee, a coalition that fielded Mr Uhuru against Cord's Raila Odinga.
