Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo has criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government for mistreating the self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna.
Speaking at the Supreme Court in Nairobi on Tuesday where he had attended the oath taking ceremony of his daughter who was among 200 law students admitted as advocates of the High court, Oloo said that Miguna has done nothing wrong to be humiliated by the government.
The former TNA Party Secretary General said that the government has no right to use force and police on the innocent Miguna.
The Kisumu Assembly Speaker said that Miguna's return into the country was lawful basing on court orders.
“The Jubilee government should stop this nonsense and allow Miguna into the country because he is harmless,” he said.
Oloo asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in basing on the handshake he had with NASA leader Raila Odinga.
“If indeed president Kenyatta was sincere in his meeting with Raila three weeks ago, he should ordered the police and Immigration officials to stop harassing Miguna,” he said.
Oloo said that Miguna is not a threat to the country’s peace and security as the government is claiming.
He said that Miguna is a Kenyan and it is shameful for him to be treated like a fugitive.
The Kisumu Assembly speaker asked Kenyans to stand and protect the constitution.
Miguna’s woes continues a day after he arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from Canada where he had been deported.
Miguna is however being detained at the Airport on grounds that he is undocumented passenger and cannot be allowed in.
On Monday night Miguna fought the government attempt to re-deport him when he was bundled into an Emirates plane en route to Dubai.
Miguna disembarked form the plane saying that he cannot be deported again.
The self declared NRM leader has however received a reprieve after High court sitting in Nairobion Tuesday ordered for his immediate release.
High Court Judge Roselyn Aburili said that Miguna was illegally detained and should be released and allowed into the country unconditionally.
