Former TNA party secretary general Mr Onyango Oloo has been appointed as the Speaker of the Kisumu county assembly.
Oloo a long time ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta cut ties with the Head of State and aligned himself with NASA leader Raila Odinga early 2016.
Oloo won the Kisumu Speaker with 32 votes, against Kenneth Omondi who got 11 votes while the incumbent Anne Adul garnered 5 votes.He unsuccessfully contested Kisumu Central parliamentary seat but lost in the party primaries.
The new speaker called for unity during his first speech.
"We are equal to the task and the challenges ahead of us, we must work together with the executive and propel the county of Kisumu to the highest level of quality development and better service delivery to our esteem residents," he said.
Oloo will now work with Kisumu governor Anyang' Nyong'o.
