[Photo: Futaa.com]Kenya Premier League (KPL) runners up in the recently concluded 2017 season, Sofapaka FC have confirmed signing former Ulinzi Stars marksman Stephen Waruru.A post on the club's website indicates that the Kenyan international has signed a two-year deal that will see him feature for Batoto Ba Mungu until 2019."Yes, we have roped in Waruru who is one of the country's top strikers. As I said before, what is paramount in our operations is to make Sofapaka second to none in the forthcoming season and even beyond," the club's president Elly Kalekwa said.

He added: "We wound up in a respectable second position in the 2017 KPL season but we should not be contented with that and have to go an extra mile to become champions next year. The idea here is to win the league with several matches to spare as Gor Mahia did in the just concluded season."

This development now puts to rest the future of the diminutive striker who had earlier on denied any links with any top KPL side maintaining that he was a free agent."Just to confirm to my fans that am still a free agent. I have not signed for any team. Do not listen to any rumours," he had earlier posted on his social media account.Waruru netted thirteen KPL goals for Ulinzi this season before calling it quits with the club in what is rumored to have been lack of playing time at the Nakuru based side.
