Former Ulinzi Stars strikers m Stephen Waruru has vowed to go for the golden boot award this season after coming close to the last campaign.

Waruru who ditched the Soldiers for Sofapaka FC said that his main aim will be to help the 2009 champions prosper in their domestic assignments aside from achieving his personal ambitions of emerging the best goal poacher in the Kenyan top tier league.

"This is a new season,' whatever happened last season is gone.I'll need to be at my best and I know goals will come.Expectations are high because Sofapaka is a big club and when I came here, I knew that it's a club with demanding performance, " he said.

"You should expect goals. My target is to help Sofapaka win the title. If I score, it's okay and if Aswani (Kepha or Umaru Kasumba scores then it's for the betterment of the team, but for me, I'll be in the race for the Golden Boot award," Waruru revealed to local sports website Goal.com.

The pacy goal poacher emerged third with thirteen goals behind eventual winner Masoud Juma of Kariobangi Sharks who scored seventeen goals and Meddie Kagere of Gor Mahia who managed fourteen.

However his switch to Sofapaka could easily see him better his goal tally considering the quality of his newfound partnership with Aswani who also netted thirteeb goals for Nakumatt FC last season and Kasumba who found the back of the net twelve times for Sofapaka.
