Joseph Kiarie Ng’ethe, a former student leader at Maseno University was reportedly killed by a crew of touts on the Christmas yule at Zimmermann.
While confirming the incidence through his Facebook post on 25th December, Anthony Kibagendi said that Kiarie was beaten to death by Matatu crew.Anthony confirms that the Zuri matatu Sacco had hit the deceased’s car and when he tried to confront them, he met his untimely and painful death. “Waking up to terrible news, my former fellow student leader in Maseno university #josephKirieNgethe was killed by Matatu crew at Zimmermann after the matatu that belongs to #zurisacco hit his car, and when he stepped out to confront them, they beat him to death,” Anthony reported on social media.According to Anthony, no legal action has been taken against the touts and he is asking the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Kenya Police to act on the matter.“Let’s share and tag #NTSA and #KePolice on all social media for them to take action,” requested Anthony.Many people, including friends and colleagues, have sent their condolences while cursing the act by the touts.Salome Kaplan posted, “Woi this is terrible! Kenya has gone to the dogs! If such an act of beating someone to death on abroad right can happen! Very sad may his soul rest in peace.”
