Big names were floored by new political comers in the most divisive general election in the country’s history.

In Kiambu, notable and powerful politicians were  brought down in what was interpreted as the people’s power.

Not even their fame and money could save them from being voted out.

Here are among the Kiambu politicians who were once famous but are now languishing in political cold.

Alice Ng’ang’a:  She  was a vocal former Thika Town Member of Parliament  (MP) and a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The  former MP was also a critic of the opposition and often told off people who tried to intimidate or insult president Kenyatta’s government.

Nga’ng’a, however, lost her re-election bid to political new comer Engineer Patrick Wainaina in last year’s general election.

The former MP has remained silent with political analysts saying that she may resurface as 2022 succession politics takes center stage.

William Kabogo: He is the former Kiambu governor who lost his re-election bid to Ferdinand Waititu.

Kabogo is among politicians who were badly humiliated on the ballot despite  their fame, money and influence.

A close, ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kabogo is expected to make a return in regards to the Mt Kenya 2022 succession politics.

On Tuesday, Kabogo met with ODM leader Raila Odinga where they are said to have discussed matters national unity.

His meeting with Raila has created wider speculations with claims that Mt Kenya might be warming up to Raila ahead of 2022.

Anne Gathecha: She is the former Kiambu woman representative and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin.

She lost re-election to former radio personality Gathoni Wamuchomba in last year’s polls.

There are claims that she is being fronted for the Nairobi county deputy governor position.

Esther Gathongo: A former Ruiru Member of Parliament. 

She lost her re-election bid in last year’s general election to youthful politician Simon Ng’ang’a.

John Kiragu: He is among Kiambu veteran politicians. 

The former Limuru MP lost his re-election bid to Peter Mwathi in last year’s polls.
