The battle for the presidency of the Law Society of Kenya is on, with 60 candidates presenting their nomination papers ahead of elections that seek to find Isaac Okero's replacement amongst other positions.February 26 is the day the LSK will hold the biennial elections.This will be the second elections under the LSK Act that has limited the president's non-renewable term to two years.Candidates will be jostling for 13 positions; the president, the vice president, three representatives of the general membership of the society, four upcountry representatives, three Nairobi representatives and a single representative from the coast region.Members of the disciplinary tribunal will also be elected by the lawyers.Judith Sijenyi, Wiper's former nominated senator, is among those eyeing the president's post.Vetting of the candidates is ongoing after the deadline for the submission of nomination papers.The position of the vice-president has attracted two female candidates; Ms. Harriete Chiggai and Ms. Joy Brenda Masinde.
