Former Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi has voiced discontent after Machakos High Court dismissed his case challenging the election of Charles Kilonzo. The former lawmaker has said that he will appeal the judgment of the ruling within 30 days. The court dismissed the petition on the grounds that the former legislator lacked substantive evidence to support the nullification of the results of the August General elections. Mwangangi, who contested on Chama Cha Uzalendo Party ticket, wanted the resulted annulled arguing that the exercise was marred by all sorts of illegalities and irregularities. He told the court that the win of the incumbent Kilonzo does not, in any way, reflect the will of the people of his constituency.A witness in a petition challenging the election of Kilonzo told a Machakos Court that exercise’s results were altered by a returning officer. The witness, Samuel Mulei, claimed that Yatta RO alerted forms 35 A and 35 B. He also said that he had denied the agents a chance to access the polling station. Kilonzo has insisted that he won the election and his opponent is attempting to change the will of the voters through the court.
