Four people were on Tuesday arrested in Kimilili, Bungoma county after they were found repackaging the government’s subsidised maize flour.

According to detectives, the four, Lucy Njoki, Ken Mwangi, Mary Mugo and Peter Waweru were caught repacking the flour in nylon paper bags at a church in Bungoma.

The four employees of Jazz supermarket in Kimilili town had the intention of reselling the commodity at a higher price.

The owner of the supermarket however managed to escape and is being searched by police, who recovered over 177 bales of the flour.

Kimilili sub-county commissioner, Reuben Loyotoman, said the repacked flour was to be sold at a price of Sh75 per half a kilo within shops in the region.

Loyotoman cautioned business people in the county against such illegal acts, saying anyone found will face the law.

The four will be arraigned in court once the investigations are complete.
