IEBC has cleared four gubernatorial candidates in Machakos county set to battle it out in August polls, they include the incumbent DR Alfred Mutua of Maendeleo Chap Chap, Wavinya Ndeti of Wiper, Benard Muia Kiala of Independent Candidate and Lemi Muia of Jubilee party.
Speaking after the obtaining IEBC clearance, Ms Wavinya Ndeti who has survived various attempts to bar her from contesting took the issue with her opponents Dr Alfred Mutua, Benard Kiala and Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama.
IEBC cleared her even as there were reports that there was a live court order barring the poll body from giving her a nod to vie for the county’s top seat on a wiper ticket.
Mr Kiala distanced himself from Wavinya’s claims telling her to sob off saying that he will not at any given time accept the offer of being the county speaker.
Kiala used the occasion to unveil his running mate, Ms Everlyn Mwende Mutula, the duo will be on the ballot as independent candidates.
The youth Lemi Muia who is flying Jubilee was also cleared alongside his running mate a businessman John Karaja, the duo said they will bank the victory on the youth population in Machakos County who command 70% of the population and who he has been a leader.
