The four, led by Mangu sub-location assistant chief James Gitau Kamami, were attacked following a morning raid in one of the suspect's house in Kanyigi.

This comes after Kimami received a tip-off informing him that the suspect, Mburu Tithu, was in possession of bhang.

Kamami was accompanied by his colleagues Muhia (Mwea), Samuel Kamau (Mukurwe), and Joseph Kuria (Mitero) during the 5.30 am raid.

The assistant chiefs are reported to have arrested Mburu and recovered 5kgs of bhang before his brother emerged from the house with a panga and attacked them.

Mburu was freed by his brother who handed him the panga which he used to assault the government officials.

The assistant chiefs were taken to Igegania Hospital where they are currently recuperating after sustaining injuries following the attack.

Kamami is nursing rib injuries after being hit by a rungu while Kamau’s left thumb was cut with a panga, Citizen Digital has reported.

Muhia and Kuria sustained cuts on the head and forehead respectively.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two brothers.
